The way Ann Roth tells it, her customized shoe business began with a major wardrobe malfunction. She’s an actress, and while on stage one night, her dance shoe fell apart! The quick fix was automotive glue that held beautifully to get her through the rest of the show.

Soon after, she was taking shoes apart on purpose to see how they were made, then reassembling and adding embellishments that were noticed whenever she wore them. Excited friends placed orders for their own pairs and thus her knowledge and passion for shoes grew.

Today she operates Ann       Roth Shoes, manufacturing custom shoes in China and specially-designed shoes in Spain.  She currently sells in 12 states as well as Italy and Ireland.

“I have a great life. I work from home and multi-task all day long!  I still act in a few commercials, but I design full time, do trade shows and private showings, and market my business myself,” she says. Her challenge is the ever-changing fashion market and knowing how to stay ahead of the game.

“I really do it by following my heart and not market trends. I trust my style - “vintage with a twist”. I’m a real person behind my brand – an artist, and I think the authenticity is what my customers appreciate about my product. I’m always evolving and growing the company while I stay true to Ann Roth Shoes.”
